Now, when we here at Bald Hill Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM first got word about the annual sales figures from Chrysler, we couldn't help but be excited. After a year spent watching satisfied customers drive off our dealership in a new or used car, it's always something to see the fruits of your labor finally take shape. And as tempted as we are to break out the bullhorn and start cheering from the mountain tops, that's just not our style. After all, the numbers alone speak volumes.
At the end of the day, the powers that be at Chrysler reported a total annual sales income of $1.7 billion in 2012, a big improvement over the automaker's $183 million profit margin in 2011 after they repaid their loans from the US government. In the fourth quarter of 2012 alone, they made a net income of $378 million (a 68% increase from the $225 million made in 2011). And as for worldwide vehicle sales, the final numbers figured out to 2.2 million units sold, up 18% from 2011's annual vehicle sales.
But where some may take this is a cause for celebration, we see it as an opportunity.
"While we are pleased to have achieved strong financial results in 2012, the enterprise we are crafting is not complete," says Sergio Marchionne, Chairman and CEO of Chrysler Group LLC. "We pause for a moment to enjoy our accomplishments, but we will not stop. Our continued achievement relies upon maintaining a humble spirit and an intense focus on the integrity of our work. And so we press on."1
