When the Dodge Dart hit the scene in 2013 it brought quite a bit of fanfare along with it. Praise for its styling, safety, and efficiency rang loud and clear across the country. Here in Warwick, RI, drivers have really taken a liking to the range of options that the model features.

Believe it or not, one of those customizable areas is the powertrain setup. Offering a 2.0-liter or a 2.4-liter Tigershark, the Dart's power plant has played a large part in its success. While the demand for the engine may be up, the supply is lagging a bit behind. So Chrysler is investing a hefty sum into its existing Michigan plants in order to get production back to where it needs to be.

Vice President and Head of Powertrain Manufacturing, Brian Harlow explains, "With the growing demand for our products, we are constantly evaluating how to best meet powertrain production requirements. In this case, we are fortunate that we had an existing facility that could accommodate the additional capacity needs for Tigershark and one that has the know-how to support that additional production."1

Currently the Dart is the only model in the Bald Hill Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM showroom to feature the engine. However, with the release of the Jeep Cherokee just around the corner, and the possibility of a Chrysler 100 further down the line, the Tigershark will soon make its way under a few more hoods.
